President Adama Barrow will inaugurate an electricity project in Kiang today in a bid to bring electricity to rural Gambia.

Kiang which located in the south bank of the country has been without an electricity facility since Independence.

“President Barrow will on Saturday, 28th November switch the light in Kiang, marking the end of an era of darkness and the beginning of socio-economic development. 

“For the first time in the history of Kiang, residents will enjoy an uninterrupted supply of electricity,” State House said in a press statement. 

Hundreds of people including senior government officials are expected to grace the occasion – as the presidency announced the event would attract a big entourage.
