The Gambian President Adama Barrow has expressed dissatisfaction on the slow pace of work at the Faraba University of The Gambia Lot 2 project.

During a site inspection, Barrow told contractors their work pace is not satisfactory, as he gave them an ultimatum review plan scheduled to be submitted on Friday.

“To be very honest, when I was in my office, there was a picture in my head but definitely that picture is not here because of the target time we have for this project. The project is way behind schedule because we targeted this project to be part of our Independence [Day] schedule,” he said.

“I’m not happy,” Barrow added, stating that the explanation from the contractors is not satisfactory. “And these are big contractors. We are targeting to open this year as part of our 60 years’ [Independence] anniversary.

“But what we are seeing, I’m not happy. The moment I approached the place, my mood changed.

“It is far behind schedule but we have discussed with the contractor and the consultant, they will give us a realistic revised work plan and we will receive this on Friday and discuss with them to see what will be realistic that we can complete this project,” he continued.
