President Adama Barrow has urged Gambians to unite and work together for the betterment of the country.

“We have nowhere other than The Gambia. Therefore, we will do anything possible to develop The Gambia, and we will make sure The Gambia progresses,” Mr Barrow told his supporters at a State House meeting.

He said he is hopeful of victory in the upcoming presidential election in December.

“It’s the strong people who are supporting this party.”

Mr Barrow joked that certain parties he refused to name have no confidence in themselves.

“A wrestler who doesn’t trust himself talks a lot and instigates conflict. He doesn’t want the bout to happen. They don’t want the 4th of December to happen; all they want is chaos.

“The revising court is coming and they are the only ones who will go there. You will not see NPP there, we will not take anyone there. Because we trust ourselves.”

However, the president strongly warned against violence and division in the country, adding that troublemakers would be dealt with according to law.

“Sometimes they tell me, Mr President, you are too calm and quiet, you don’t do this and that. But the power that was here is still here, it has not gone anywhere.

“But showing off power will not benefit you and it will benefit the country. The power is here and we can use it,” he said.

Mr Barrow pledged more development after the December election.
