President Adama Barrow has called on the nation’s youth to fully rally behind his National People’s Party as he promised to make them his party’s priority.
President Barrow was speaking at the launch of his National People’s Party at the Independence Stadium on Saturday night.
The launch attracted thousand of supporters both at home and abroad.
“The Gambia has a youthful population of 64% although a Ministry of Youth Affairs has existed for decades and it has not competently addressed the youths predicaments.
“We believe that the youths should be meaningfully involved in this process and decision-making on youth matters … the strategies to addresse youth unemployment, Crimes, illegal migration, drug abuse, and all devices associated with invaluable resource of the nation,” the president said.
He added: “The NPP maintains that it’s most pressing to pay more attention to the youths and ensure that their lives and potentials are not wasted.
“To archive these objectives, we invite the youths of this country to rally behind the NPP and work with the party leadership in the interest of all Gambians.”
