Omar Camara, a long-serving aide at the Office of the President, has died at the age of 55, the presidency has announced.”

Mr Camara, who held the position of Valet at State House, passed away on Saturday, 7 June 2025.

He was remembered by colleagues as a quiet force of professionalism and integrity, with decades of dedicated service to the presidency.

In a statement, the Office of the President described him as “a good man, a true professional, and a beacon of love”, adding that his passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of those who knew him.

Born in 1970, Mr Camara worked behind the scenes at the highest level of government, earning the trust and respect of multiple administrations.

His role, while largely discreet, was considered vital to the day-to-day functioning of State House.

A prayer gathering (Fidaw) in his honour is taking place today in Old Yundum, where family, friends and government colleagues are expected to pay their final respects.

He is survived by his wife, Isatou Camara, and their children.

The presidency has extended its condolences to his family, praying that Allah grants him Jannatul Firdaws.
