
Reigning champions Real De Banjul have taken a major step toward making history in Gambian football after a commanding 2-0 victory over title contenders Hart FC in the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) First Division League.
After a goalless first half in which Hart FC held their ground with disciplined defending, Real De Banjul broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute through Momodou Jobarteh.
The goal ignited the champions’ momentum, and just six minutes later, Alasana Saidy doubled the lead to seal all three points.
The win extends Real De Banjul’s lead at the summit of the league table to five points, putting them in prime position to become the first club in Gambian football history to win three consecutive league titles. They now sit five points ahead of Fortune FC, who have a game in hand, and six points clear of Hart FC.
With their eyes set on an unprecedented three-peat, Real De Banjul continue to show the resilience and consistency of champions. As the season nears its climax, the pressure mounts on their closest rivals to keep pace.
All signs point to an exciting finish in what is shaping up to be a historic campaign.
