Antonio Rüdiger, German International and Real Madrid defender has praised Gambians as “lovely people”, after arriving in the country. 

The top football player is in the country to take part in the launch of a family on Friday (7 July). 

Speaking to reporters shortly after meeting President Adama Barrow at State House in Banjul, Rüdiger said: “It came by surprise to be interacting with the President to be very honest because I arrived this morning in The Gambia for the first time.”

“My impression is as my brother told me because he came to this country many times and I also have also family here. So, he spoke high about The Gambia so I wanted to visit it and see with my own eyes. I have to say the people here are very lovely. The interaction was very good and I am very honoured.”
