The remains of former mayor of Kanifing Municipal Council, Yankuba Colley, has arrived in the Banjul for burial.

Colley died last week in Turkey while receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness. However, a source close to Gambiana said he was suffering from a stroke.  

Tributes have been pouring in for the late mayor who was praised for his generosity and humanity. He left behind children and a wife.

He served as mayor of Kanifing Municipal Council from 2008 to 2018 under the Jammeh regime. He previously served in the Gambia Police Force before becoming a mayor under Jammeh rule.
