Lamin Korta, a retired prisons warder, has said David Colley, was a stooge of former President Yahya Jammeh.
Mr Korta was testifying before the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparation Commission (TRRC) on Tuesday.
David Colley was former director general of Gambia Prisons Service. He was arrested and detained days after Jammeh fled to exile in Equatorial Guinea after losing the 2016 presidential election to Adama Barrow.
“David Colley was a stooge to former President Yahya Jammeh. Colley was a stooge to Yahya Jammeh, because Yahya Jammeh once said: Gambians should know who David Colley was,” he told the probe.
“If the president could stand up to utter such a word then what he is telling Gambians,” he added.
Mr Korta is one of many witnesses that will testify before the Commission that is investigating the prisons conditions during former President Yahya Jammeh’s rule.
The Commission has resumed its public hearings, with social distancing rules, following three months of lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.
