Rongo, whose real name is Momodou Jarju, has taken aim at his younger brother, Youth and Sports Minister Bakary Y. Badjie, over what he describes as mismanagement of stadium projects and unwarranted interference in land disputes.

Speaking to Gambiana after a news conference, he said:”Bakary Badjie, who is my younger brother, has issues with developing other stadiums that they proposed to allocate within the communities. But you cannot solve those things, and yet you want to jump into land that is under litigation.”

“Look at the stadium, how many millions of dalasis have been spent unnecessarily. You cannot coordinate those projects and still want to meddle in areas that are not your jurisdiction. He is not a lawyer, so why is he getting involved in such matters? And he is aware of this, as I told him.”

Rongo’s criticisms come amid growing public concern over the slow pace of sports infrastructure development in the country.

According to him, Minister Badjie has repeatedly failed to deliver on promised projects, leaving communities frustrated and funds unaccounted for.

He further warned that public resources should be managed with transparency and that officials must stay within their mandate.

As of now, Minister Bakary Y. Badjie has not issued a response to his brother’s accusations, leaving questions hanging over the management of millions of dalasis allocated to sports and community development.
