Senegalese captain Sadio Mane has said it was hard for him to play against Gambia his second home in their African Cup of Nations group C game on Monday.

Mane made the comments after Senegal thrashed Gambia 3-0 at the Stade Charles Konan Banny in Yamoussoukro.

Mane, who sees Gambia as his second home and has a huge fan base in the country, said his heart was Gambia.

He urged Gambian fans to rally behind the Scorpions despite the defeat yesterday.

He said: “I support the Gambian team but this is football.  This was not what I expected to play against Gambia but what can I do because it’s part of our job. I would just say for Gambians to stay behind their team.”
