The newly created award as part of the Ballon d’or is given to a footballer for off-field contribution to society. 

Mane was honoured for his charitable work in his home village of Bambali. 

He was also named runner up in this year’s football ballon d’or for the best player in the world which was won by France and Real Madrid striker Karin Benzema.

Some of Mane’s great contributions to his people of Bambali, a small village of 2,000 inhabitants in Senegal.
