Sainabou Mbye has arrived in The Gambia from Dakar with the corpse of baby Muhammed amid police investigation.
Ms Mbye was extradited yesterday (22 July) from neighbouring Senegal.
Gambia police on Tuesday sought support from their Senegalese counterparts to facilitate the extradition of Ms Mbye, who is prime suspect in the death of baby Muhammed.
The child who was due to undergo a DNA test died last week in Dakar under tragic circumstances. Police are investigating his death as suspicious and have arrested two men with connection to Ms Mbye.
Baby Muhammed is at the centre of a rape trial involving Ms Mbye’s former husband Bob Keita who was accused of raping his underage sister-in-law in 2019 resulting in pregnancy. He denied the rape charge.
Ms Mbye is due in court on Monday.
