Berewuleng Women’s FC bounced back from their opening-day defeat to AS Bolonta in emphatic fashion, hammering Sierra Leone’s Mogbwemo Queens FC 5-1 in their second Group B match of the CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU-A Qualifiers.

The victory sees The Gambian champions secure their place in the semifinals of the competition, keeping their hopes of reaching the CAF Women’s Champions League alive.

Sarah Jarju was the star of the show, scoring four goals in a sensational individual performance.

Sarah Jarju opened the scoring in the 15th minute after being played through by Ellen Gomez, before doubling Berewuleng’s advantage from the penalty spot in the 76th minute after Marie Prierra was brought down inside the box.

Mogbwemo Queens were reduced to ten players in the 37th minute when goalkeeper Godoui Larissa was sent off for bringing down Sarah Jarju just outside the box after the Berewuleng forward had raced through on goal.

Mogbwemo Queens responded just three minutes later when Marguérite Semedeton Ahouassou pulled one back in the 79th minute, capitalising on a defensive error after Kaddy Sanyang failed to clear her lines.

The comeback hopes were quickly extinguished, however, as Sarah Jarju completed her hat-trick in the 84th minute to restore Berewuleng’s two-goal cushion.

Sarah Jarju then turned provider moments later, brilliantly finding Ellen Gomez, who made no mistake to put the Gambian champions 4-1 ahead.

Sarah Jarju saved her best for last, completing a remarkable four-goal haul in the 90+6th minute to seal a commanding 5-1 victory.
