Professor Pierre Gomez, the Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, has reported that someone is using his picture to create a fake profile.

In a Facebook post, he said someone was impersonating him and urged people not to engage with the account.

“Please ignore the account below. It’s not from me. Somebody is trying to impersonate me. It’s FAKE,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

Prof. Gomez is the second senior government official to be targeted by scammers.

Last month, Vice President Muhammed BS Jallow reported a similar case.

Some Gambians have urged state officials to verify their accounts to help deter scammers from targeting them.
