A huge crowd of mourners on Friday attended the burial ceremony of Gambian female Islamic preacher Aja Maimuna Savage who died at the age of 69.

Hundreds of Gambians paid their tribute to the deceased whose death has been described as “a great loss” to the country.

The late Aja Maimuna Savage spent almost her years in practising and teaching Islam both in and outside the Gambia.

Among the mourners included the Imam Ratib of Banjul Alhagie Cherno Alieu Mass Kah who spoke highly of the deceased as a pious Muslim who had dedicated her life in the service of Allah to mankind.

Speaking for the government delegation led by the Vice President Muhammed BS Jallow, the land minister Hamat Bah reminded people to always intend and do good.

He urged for unity and peace among people while praising the religious leaders for teaching and reminding others of God‘s teaching.
