The homecoming of the Scorpions from Cameroon has been delayed by “logistics problem”, Gambia Football Federation has said.

“The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) regrets to inform the general public that there is a new  development with regards to the arrival of the Senior National Football Team (Scorpions) due  to logistical reasons,” the nation’s football body said.

According to the body, a new arrival time will be communicated to the public in due course.

Its advised everyone to stand down for the time being, saying “we deeply apologise for any inconveniences caused.”

The Scorpions were knocked out of the Afcon by the hosts Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions by 2 goals to nil.

However, the debutants Scorpions made history after beating the Mauritanian and Tunisian national teams and eliminated Guinea’s Sly Nationals to reach the Afcon quarterfinals.

Hundreds of Gambian fans are expected to welcome the Scorpions on their arrival at the Banjul International Airport.
