Gambia captain Omar Colley has said the team must “focus collectively and avoid conceding early goal” in order to clinch victory against Guinea on Friday.

The Scorpions have lost their Africa Cup of Nations opener against Senegal by 3-0 leaving the team on the bottom of Group C.

However, the team are working to rectify their errors ahead of encounter with Guinea which they had defeated in their first AFCON appearance two years ago.

Speaking to journalists in Yamoussoukro on Thursday morning after training session, Omar Colley, said the team should forget about losing their first AFCON match “despite it was a bitter pills to swallow for them”.

“We need to focus for the next games which is most important now, and put behind our last game.

“We just conceded an early goal against Senegal which was very difficult. And I think we should avoid that (conceding) early goal and try to be together,” he said.

The Gambia vs Guinea match kicks off today (19 January) at 8pm GMT at the Stade Charles Konan Banny de Yamoussoukro
