Senegal fans are daring to dream as the Lions of Teranga plays Algeria in tonight’s Africa Cup of Nations final in Cairo, Egypt.

The streets of Serekunda have been painted with the Senegalese national colours as shops and market stalls are draped with flags by jubilant supporters.

The Lions of Teranga narrowly made it to the final after overcoming the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia in the semi-final.

Senegal’s opponent in tonight’s final, Algeria, is rated by many fans and football commentators as the most outstanding team in this year’s tournament.

A win for Senegal tonight will be historic as it will be first time they would have won the continental football tournament.

The Lions of Teranga last reached the Africa cup of Nations in 2002, when current coach Aliou Cisse captained a team beaten on penalties by Cameroon in Mali.

The game kicks off at 1900 hours GMT at the Cairo International Stadium, Egypt.
