Police in Basse, in collaboration with joint security personnel stationed at the Yerobawol Checkpoint, have arrested a Senegalese national found in possession of a large quantity of suspected counterfeit United States dollar notes.

The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Sadia Ndome from Maleme, Senegal, was apprehended on Saturday, May 16, 2026, during a search operation at the checkpoint.

According to police, Ndome was travelling from Basse towards Senegal on a motorbike without a registration number plate when officers intercepted and searched him.

During the operation, security personnel reportedly recovered suspected counterfeit currency estimated at USD467,000, along with a bag containing clothes.

The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue.
