A senior Gambia Navy officer Lieutenant Mbaye Faal has died.

“The Gambia Armed Forces regret to announce the untimely demise of Navy Lieutenant Mbaye Faal of the Gambia Navy. 

“This sad event occurred in the early hours of Tuesday 19 January 2021.

“The sad news is extended to His Excellency the President Adama Barrow, the Hon Minister of Defence and Cabinet Ministers, his family members, relatives and friends in The Gambia and abroad,” the army said in a statement. 

The cause of death was not stated in the army press statement. 

The late navy officer will be laid to rest at his residence in Kerr Serign on Wednesday.
