The Gambia has secured its first gold medal at the CAA Region II U18 & U20 Championships in Dakar, with Serreh Sanneh delivering a brilliant performance in the Women’s Long Jump.

Competing in the U20 category, Serreh Sanneh jumped 5.62m to finish top of the event and hand The Gambia its first gold medal of the championship.

The achievement also saw the young Gambian athlete set a new personal best, surpassing her previous mark of 5.42m, which she recorded at the inaugural ANOCA African School Games in Algeria.

A memorable moment for Gambian athletics as Serreh continues to raise the country’s flag high on the regional stage.
