The young Jawara in Glasgow, Scotland where he studied Veterinary Science. He came to the Glasgow in 1948, qualifying as a veterinarian in 1953. He played an active role in University life and was Secretary, later President of the African Students Union in Glasgow.
In 1966 Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara arrived in London with wife Lady Augusta Mahoney Jawara and their daughter Naceay.
