Gambian journalist and activist Sise Jaha Sawaneh and two other men who died in a car crash on Wednesday will be laid to rest today.
The funeral service is to take place at the Imam Malick Islamic Institute, Kanifing Layout.
Sise Sawaneh and two other men died in a car crash at Masembe, Kiang East District of the Lower River Region on Wednesday afternoon.
Gambians including journalists and activists took to social media to pay homage to her.
Few days ago, she was promoting peace in her hometown of Garawol, Upper River Region.
The remains of the deceased have been transported to the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul from Soma hospital.
One Papa Touray, a supporter of the United Democratic Party, was also named as one of the victims of the tragic road accident.
The third victim’s identity couldn’t be established so far.
Until her death, Ms Sawaneh worked as a reporter at the Gambia Radio and Television Services. She previously worked at various media organisations, including The Standard, Today Newspaper and Star FM.
GPU in mourning her death described the late Ms Sawaneh “as a committed and hardworking young journalist of great promise, a wonderful human being and an excellent professional. Her death is a great loss to the media and country.”
