About 60 passengers of the SN Brussels flight quarantined at Tropical Garden Hotel in Fajara have complained of bad condition of rooms and food.
Four of the passengers were reported to have escaped quarantine. But those kept in the hotel are not satisfied with the condition of the hotel as they said the government did not fulfil what they were promised.
Gamou Gaye told Gambiana: “We were taken from the airport and taken to various hotels. Since we arrived in this hotel, we haven’t seen all that they have promised us.
“The food is a little bit better but the problem is the rooms, the fridges and TVs were taken out before our arrival. We were being given each a single gallon of water since we came here. It was when we started making it an issue that they started bringing water.”
And Ousainou Sheikh Cham also said: “They said I will be here for two weeks and my child’s food will finish in a week. I told them I will not be here for two weeks when my child’s food would finish in one week.
“Since the day before yesterday, they have not given the child anything to eat, they didn’t give the child anything.
“My child was sick and I was in Germany since January. When I got to the airport, I told them my child has a problem, that the child drinks only milk.”
However the exact number of passengers, quarantined for 14 days as part of a government effort to contain coronavirus, could not be established as officials of the Ministry of Health could not be reached for comment.
