Renowned Gambian artist and award-winning singer Sona Jobarteh has pledged her commitment to elevating Destination Gambia to the international stage.

Famed for her exceptional singing and mastery of the Kora, Sona made this assurance during a recent meeting with Abdoulie Jobe, the Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, held at the Ministry’s conference room in Banjul.

“The Gambia’s tourism industry offers a wealth of products that deserve global recognition,” Sona said, emphasising her dedication to showcasing these treasures through her music.

She described The Gambia as a country blessed with stunning flora and fauna, which she believes are vital assets for the tourism sector.

Sona expressed optimism about the new partnership between herself and officials of The Gambia’s tourism industry, envisioning its growth as a catalyst for the mutual development of the sector.

In response, Tourism Minister Abdoulie Jobe lauded Sona Jobarteh’s unwavering love for The Gambia, describing her efforts as a true act of patriotism.

He reaffirmed his Ministry’s commitment to supporting this partnership, highlighting tourism as a cornerstone of The Gambia’s socio-economic development, particularly in creating employment opportunities for youth and women.
