The prosecution of a suspect accused of stealing tablet devices from the Ministry of Public Service, Administrative Reforms, Policy Coordination and Delivery has commenced before the Kanifing Magistrate’s Court.
The case, filed as IGP vs Pap Ngane Sai, is being presided over by Principal Magistrate His Worship Sallah Mbye.
According to the police, the matter arose following a complaint about the disappearance of nine tablet devices from the Ministry’s premises.
Officers, supported by Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) personnel, visited the scene and processed the office as part of their inquiries.
Investigators alleged that the accused unlawfully accessed the Ministry’s office in the early hours of the morning and removed a carton containing the tablets. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of Pap Ngane Sai.
Police further stated that some of the devices were allegedly distributed to other individuals.
Two of the missing tablets were later recovered and confirmed through IMEI verification to be part of the Ministry’s inventory.
Efforts are ongoing to retrieve the remaining devices and to establish whether other individuals were involved.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge when he appeared in court.
He was granted bail with stringent conditions but failed to meet them and was consequently remanded in custody.
The case has been adjourned to March 17, 2026, for hearing.
