Team Kaba has endorsed Colonel Musa M Balla Jammeh, widely known as Falcon, as its candidate for the upcoming Gambia Football Federation presidential election scheduled for August 2026.
The endorsement follows internal consultations within the group as preparations continue for the transition from the leadership of outgoing GFF President Lamin Kaba Bajo.
In a statement, Team Kaba said President Bajo would leave office at the end of his current mandate in line with the term limits introduced during his administration.
The group praised Bajo’s leadership, describing his tenure as instrumental in laying a strong foundation for the growth of Gambian football both locally and internationally.
According to the statement, Colonel Jammeh and Kemo Ceesay were the two aspirants who expressed interest in succeeding Bajo.
Team Kaba said consultations and meetings were held in an effort to produce a consensus candidate, but no agreement was reached through internal discussions.
The group stated that after reviewing the situation, it concluded that Colonel Jammeh was the most suitable candidate to continue the progress made in Gambian football over the past decade.
Team Kaba added that its decision was guided by the need to preserve stability and maintain the upward trajectory of football development in the country.
The statement further urged members and supporters of the group to unite behind Colonel Jammeh ahead of the elective congress, describing the upcoming election as important for the future direction of Gambian football.
