The Gambia Navy has intercepted a suspected migrant boat during a routine night patrol on Wednesday, 20 November.
The Navy’s high-speed boat, SEADOG, tracked and stopped a local wooden canoe believed to be carrying migrants.
Officials have not disclosed the number of individuals on board or their intended destination.
The intercepted vessel is currently being escorted to Banjul for further investigations. Authorities have indicated that the matter will be handed over to the relevant stakeholders for appropriate action.
