Gambian players and their coaches have arrived in Douala ahead of Saturday’s historic quarterfinal match against host nation Cameroon.

The plane carrying the Scorpions torched down this afternoon at the Douala International Airport.

After a brief rest today, the team will resume practice tomorrow for their quarterfinal match against Cameroon.

The game will be played at the Stade omnisport de Douala on Saturday 29 January at 4pm GMT.

Gambia shocked Guinea yesterday

with a 1-0 win in Bafoussam.

Striker and man of the match Musa Barrow scored the 71st-minute winner to settle a game where both sides finished with 10 men.

The Scorpions came into their first-ever Afcon finals ranked 150th in the world, the lowest of all the 24 participants – but followed up group-stage wins over Mauritania and Tunisia with another here, made all the more impressive by the fact two players had to pull out of the game an hour before kick-off due to food poisoning.
