The Gambia Transport Union has condemned the alleged assault by Gambian and ECOMIG security personnel on truck driver Ebrima Bah.

In a statement, the union said Mr Bah, a member of the union who worked with KMC, was assaulted on Saturday (28 August) around Westfield after an altercation with the security officers who were travelling in a convoy.

The union described the alleged assault as a “human rights violation”, adding “Our union is calling on the government to investigate this matter and those found wanting to be held accountable.

“We will engage the National Human Rights Commission as well as the Office of the Inspector General of Police to look into this assault”.
