Tributes have been paid to a talented young Gambian footballer who died suddenly on Wednesday.

Bubacar Touray, from Seattle, USA, tragically passed away after a brief illness – leaving loved ones heartbroken.

The footballer was described by friends as “lovely, polite and friendly young man“ and a “gifted footballer”. 

His football club have said they are “devastated” by the news. 

SEAGAM F.C said: “It is with a heavy heart that we announce to you the death of our dear brother & friend Bubacar Touray alias ‘Robinho.’ Bubacar is well known for his kindness, genuineness and his love for the game of soccer. He was a practicing Muslim until the day he answered to the almighty Allah. His sudden demise has left the entire community here in Washington, Alaska and The Gambia, devastated beyond words. Bubacar was an astonishing soccer player with a very promising future. 

“On behalf of SEAGAM F.C, we extend our deepest condolences to the family of Bubacar Touray in Washington, Alaska and The Gambia. May his beautiful soul rest in eternal peace.”

Bubacar was laid to rest today on Thursday, Sep 10 in Lynnwood Seattle, USA. 

His friends have set up a GoFundMe campaign https://www.gofundme.com/f/funeral-cost-for-bubacar-touray? for the late football star.
