Tributes have been paid to veteran politician Halifa Sallah as he marks his 73rd birthday, with many describing him as a symbol of dedication, integrity and lifelong service to the country.

Mr Sallah, a founding member of the People’s Democratic Organisation for Independence and Socialism (PDOIS), has long been regarded as one of The Gambia’s most influential political figures, known for his commitment to justice, truth and national development.

Supporters and admirers say his decades of public service have helped shape the country’s political landscape, highlighting his role not only as a politician but also as a teacher and mentor to many.

“He has remained steadfast in his principles and continues to inspire generations through his humility and dedication,” PDOIS said.

Mr Sallah is widely respected for his discipline, knowledge and deep sense of patriotism, qualities many say have defined his leadership over the years.

Well-wishers have expressed hopes for his continued good health and strength, noting that his contributions to national discourse remain significant.
