At least two Malian nationals lost their lives in a fatal road accident early Saturday morning between Karantaba and Jarra Jabisa in The Gambia’s Lower River Region.
The crash occurred around 3 a.m. when a Malian passenger bus reportedly collided with a Gambian truck transporting a 40-foot container. According to eyewitnesses, the bus struck the rear of the truck, veered off the road, and crashed into a tree in nearby bushland.

The impact proved fatal for two apprentices seated at the front left side of the bus. Rescue services reportedly took several hours to retrieve the bodies due to the severity of the collision.
The Gambia Police Force has yet to release full details, with a spokesperson confirming that investigations are ongoing. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
