Two Guinean nationals have died in a fatal road accident in Tujereng.
According to Dawda Bah of Save Life Gambia the men who are residents of Tujereng died after a commercial vehicle crashed into their motorbike.
“The rider of the motorbike died on the spot when his head hit the road and a series of glasses penetrated his neck leaving the territory all red.
“The second victim was rushed to the hospital by Tujereng ambulance but we later received unpleasant news that he also passed away. This is the second accident that occurred at the same intersection within a week,” Mr Bah told Gambiana.
Angry villagers mounted a barricade as they accused the authorities of not doing enough to stop road accident in the village.
“We’ve been calling for low speed, we approached the National Road Authority several times to lay speed bumps on this road and save the lives of its users but to our disappointment.
“We have no option but to place tyres on the road to slow traffic. Until the government answers our calls we will continue placing heavy materials wherever an accident occurs.
“Will you answer our calls now or will you wait until we all come out and protest for our needs? The choice is yours,” Mr Bah added.
