A 61-year-old national of the United States has been sentenced to a D120,000 fine or 10 years’ imprisonment for possessing an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Rickey Usumbura pleaded guilty to the charge of illegal possession of firearms.

He was arrested in Kombo Sifoe following the arrest of his son for cannabis possession.

Ballistic tests conducted by the Gambia Armed Forces confirmed the findings, which were submitted as evidence in court, police said.
