Opposition United Democratic Party has filed an amended petition to include the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC).

The UDP is challenging the December 4 presidential election at the Supreme Court.

The amended petition now includes Adama Barrow and the IEC as the 1st and 2nd respondents respectively.

The party claimed the election was “rigged” and that President Barrow’s NPP party “bribed voters” to win votes. It also accused IEC officials of malpractices including allowing non-Gambians to vote.

The UDP is yet to make public its evidence to support claims that the election was rigged.

The Supreme Court started hearing the case today 17 December and a panel of five senior judges led by Chief Justice Hassan B Jallow will decide the outcome of the petition.

The case was adjourned to Monday 20 December.
