Momodou Sabally has said that he joined the ruling National People’s Party because he believes that President Adama Barrow can drive the country to the Promised Land by registering enormous development.
He made the remarks today after he was officially welcomed into the ranks of the ruling National People’s Party (NPP) at State House.
Sabally, a staunch critic of the Barrow administration, shocked many people yesterday when he announced his resignation as campaign manager of the opposition United Democratic Party and defection to the ruling party.
“I have decided to move on to the National People’s Party under President Barrow, and I can assure everybody, friends, relatives, followers that as from today, I am 100% committed to the National People’s Party and I will do everything to support the agenda, policy and programmes of the National People’s Party under the guidance of President Barrow,” he said.
“I want to assure all Gambians that I am in politics for the development of the country. Any political party I join, the joining of that political party is not an end in itself, it’s a means to an end and that end is the peace, progress and development of this country.
“And I believe that President Barrow and his team can move that agenda forward but they cannot do it alone. I am calling those people who believe in me to join this bandwagon of peace and development,” he added.
Sabally said that he is committed “to the agenda of the leader of the great party and its executive”.
