The opposition United Democratic Party voter monitoring team was attacked and chased out of Kanilai, the birthplace of former president Yahya Jammeh.

A viral video of the incident captured the moment the UDP team was attacked by villagers who were unhappy about their presence in the village.

The video widely shared on social media shows a group of Kanilai residents asking members of the UDP team to leave the village.

One man could be seen slapping senior UDP official Ebrima Dibba and pushing him into the pick-up vehicle.
