The opposition United Democratic Party will start a 14 day countrywide tour on Monday.

The campaign tour is aimed at giving the party leader first-hand information about  the problems facing the populace.

In a statement the UDP said the tour “will give [its leader] Hon. Darboe a chance to touch base with Gambians, especially UDP party sympathizers particularly on the 5-Points Agenda, the manifesto and policies of the party, as the presidential election approaches.

“During the tour, the party leader will hold rallies at different communities and towns to hear first-hand, the problems facing the populace, especially those in the province. He will also make visits to places.”

Meanwhile the party’s leader Lawyer Ousainou Darboe had asked for prayers from his supporters.

Speaking ahead of the tour in Latrikunda Sabiji, Mr Darboe said: We hope to meet again in the next 14 days. We hope to meet around this area, maybe in Wellingara, maybe in Brikama.

“But then Monday, you should pray for me. We will go out on Monday to meet Gambians.”
