The UNITE movement has announced that it has received approval from the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) to register as a political party.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the movement described the approval as a significant milestone, coming seven months after its launch.

UNITE said the IEC’s decision reflects its commitment to participating in The Gambia’s democratic process.

The movement has invited its members, supporters and members of the media to gather at its bureau in Fajara on Wednesday, July 1, at 11:00am, where it is expected to formally address the development.
