Lecturers at the University of The Gambia have called off strike action after some of their demands were met.

The faculty and staff association of the University of The Gambia released a statement following a seven hour meeting with stakeholders from the University of The Gambia, Moherst, governing council, Office of the President, student union, and National Assembly Select Committee on Education.

Some of their demands include the dissolution of the interim governing council, a new joint research council and senate committee.

The strike over pay and working conditions started last Thursday after lecturers voted unanimously for it following a breakdown in talks with the university management.

It coincided with the students end of year exams some of which were rescheduled due to the strike.
