The National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC) has reported a serious incident of vandalism at the Jambur Solar Plant, resulting in major disruption to operations.

According to the company, 36 panel sets, each comprising 18 solar panels, were deliberately cut and disconnected in what appears to be a targeted act of sabotage.

Technical teams are currently assessing the extent of the damage and are working to restore the system.

NAWEC said investigations are underway, with assistance from security personnel, to identify those responsible and to enhance measures aimed at preventing future attacks.

In a statement, the company condemned the act, describing it as a blow to national development efforts, and urged members of the public to report any suspicious activity around its facilities.
