Vice President Mohammed BS Jallow has held high-level talks with representatives of New Globe, a U.S.-based education technology company, on a proposed strategic partnership to digitally transform The Gambia’s public education system.

The meeting, held at the State House in Banjul, focused on leveraging digital innovation to strengthen foundational learning, improve teaching outcomes, and raise literacy and numeracy levels nationwide.

Ms. Ifeyinwa Ugochukwu, New Globe’s Vice President for Policy and Partnerships in Africa, stressed the urgent need for education reform across the continent, citing data showing that 70–80% of children in Sub-Saharan Africa complete primary school without acquiring basic reading or writing skills.

“Foundational learning is the bedrock of development,” she said. “We want every school and region in The Gambia to be visible through a digital dashboard accessible from central offices.”

New Globe’s model includes advanced teacher training, real-time performance monitoring tools, and digital solutions designed to increase transparency and accountability at all levels of the education system.

Vice President Jallow welcomed the initiative and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to inclusive, tech-driven education reform. He emphasised that no child should be left behind in the effort to prepare Gambian learners for the demands of the 21st century.

The proposed partnership supports the government’s broader agenda of human capital development and digital transformation, aiming to create a smarter, more resilient education system for future generations.
