Police have confirmed the identity of the pedestrian who died in a fatal road traffic accident in Bijilo on Sunday, 8 June.

The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Mustapha Camara from Jarra Soma. He was struck by a private vehicle near the National Roads Authority Office while attempting to cross the highway.

His identity was confirmed by his elder brother, Samba Camara, who is also a resident of Jarra Soma.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Gambia Police Force thanked members of the public for their cooperation in helping to identify the deceased.

“This support reflects the spirit of community and solidarity in times of need,” the statement noted.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident are still ongoing. Police say further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
