Three men reportedly killed by a Senegal military drone were buried on Monday (12 December) in Foni Kansala.

The men believed to be Gambians and native of Foni Kansala were allegedly shot to death while fetching firewoods in the Foni forest.

The deceased were identified as Demba Colley, age, 23, Alagie Kolley, age, 23 and Ebrima Colley, age, 20.

Dembo Colley and Ebrima Colley were laid to rest in Karunorr village whilst Alagie Kolley was laid to rest in Dobong Village.

As the men were buried in their home  villages, question about their true nationality rages on.

The Gambia government has denied report that the men were Gambia.

A government spokesperson claimed that the men were Senegalese refugees resident in The Gambia.

However the MP Foni Kansala, the Alkalo of Karunorr village, and the families of the deceased men have all insisted that they were born and bred in The Gambia.

The Alkalo of Karunorr Village Modou Lamin Colley told mourners that anyone saying that the men who lost their lives are refugees “is misleading the whole nation.

“None of them is a refugee. They were all born here in Karunorr village and did their schooling in Kappa village,” he told the media.

“We lost these three young people in vain, we put our trust in God and he will judge between us.”

Meanwhile, the lone survivor, Sulayman Kolley, is in intensive care at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul
