A watchman Mbackey Sowe is battling for his life at the hospital after being brutally stabbed during a brutal armed robbery at Brufut Heights.

The robbery gang of known criminals have been arrested and detained. They have already been charged with five counts including attempted murder.

Police said three cutlasses and other weapons were recovered after they raided the culprits’ hideouts.

Police commissioner Momodou Sowe said: “we recovered three brand new cutlasses that they used on their victims. The day they attacked Brufut Heights, they stabbed a watchman who is still admitted at the hospital. And they victimised four different compounds in Sancha in July.  So, this is a gang that has been terrorising the whole Greater Banjul Area.”

“These people are notorious criminals that have done a lot of havoc within the Greater Banjul Area. And right now, we have charged them with five counts. One attempt to murder, two, robbery with violence, three, burglary and stealing, four wilfully damage to property, five attempt to commit felony and also conspiracy to commit felony. As soon as the investigation is completed, they will appear before a court,” he added.
