Several urban towns are grappling with severe water supply disruptions following the bursting of a major pipeline managed by the National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC).

The affected areas are Sukuta, Bijilo, Brusubi, Kotu, Banjul, and Serekunda, have been without water for more than eight hours, leaving residents struggling to cope with the outage.

NAWEC has acknowledged the issue and issued a public apology, citing unforeseen technical challenges as the cause of the prolonged disruption.

“We sincerely apologise for the extended interruption to water supply in Sukuta, Bijilo, Brusubi, Kotu, Banjul, and Serrekunda. Our technicians are working tirelessly to address the issue and restore services as quickly as possible.

“We are committed to keeping the public informed about our progress and deeply appreciate your patience and understanding during this difficult time,” the company said in a statement.

Efforts are ongoing to repair the pipeline, but no definitive timeline has been provided for the restoration of water supply. Residents have called for expedited action to alleviate the growing inconvenience caused by the outage.
