Ebrima Boye, a Western Union worker, has said he was shot in the leg by armed bandits who attacked him and his family in Kombo Wellingara.

The violent armed robbery happened around 4am yesterday. 

“Some people broke into my compound gate and they attacked me. One of them wanted to hit me with a tool and I defended myself and wrestled him down. But they were many. And they ran away and I chased after them but they escaped with their vehicle,” he said. 

“They shot me with a gun on my leg and I went to the hospital to remove them (bullets).

“They came for money but I don’t usually go home with money. They destroyed my compound gate and house doors,” he added.

Boye said when he reported the robbery to the police they told him that they were not armed and it would be risky for them to go after the armed bandits at that moment.
