A mob has vandalised roadside gambling tent in Westfield after a woman was allegedly scammed out of nearly 10,000 dalasis.

The gamblers, who set up tents along the roadside, are known for luring people into playing with promises of winning prizes. However, many have fallen victim to the scam, losing significant amounts of money.

Eyewitnesses say the latest incident unfolded when a woman, who had been persuaded to play, lost a large sum and demanded her money back. A heated confrontation followed, drawing the attention of her relatives and passers-by.

Angered by the situation, a group of people stormed the gambling tent, destroying property and forcing the operators to flee. One of the men involved in the attack, who declined to give his name told Gambiana: “I saw the woman crying, and people were trying to attack the place. When I asked what happened, I was told she had been scammed. We confronted them and asked about their documents, but they started talking nonsense and ran away. They know what they are doing is wrong. We destroyed all their properties, their documents are all fake.”

No official statement has been issued by authorities regarding the incident.
